Reader engagement with Sport content hit a record high last week as the Paris Games continued to entertain and enthral the nation. - The euphoria and excitement of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games continued last week, driving reader engagement with Sport to a record 114.4m page views, which grew by almost a quarter. 41.1m Olympic Sport page views more than doubled and accounted for 36% of engagement. With millions of Brits inspired by the herculean efforts of the thousands of athletes taking part at the Paris Games, reader interest in Healthy Living boosted page views for the content by more than a third.

Love for a legend’s lasting legacy
- Sir Andy Murray valiantly bowed out of the Olympics, falling at the quarter finals stage alongside men’s doubles partner Dan Evens, to draw a close to a glittering career. 9.8m Tennis page views were 2.5x higher week on week.
Day-by-day engagement since the games began
- The start of the Paris Games resulted in the highest daily engagement growth, with page views tripling. On the same day as Sir Andy Murray’s final professional tennis match, Imane Khelif’s win by abandonment caused daily page views to peak at 7.6m.
- As we anticipated well in advance of the first event, this year’s Paris Games have eclipsed the engagement seen during Tokyo 2020. The first week of the Olympics drove a 60% higher page views than the entirety of the Tokyo Olympics.
- Brands looking to align with one of this year’s most important sporting moments can expect to reach an Olympic audience up to 2.5x greater vs. Tokyo 2020.

- Reader engagement with prominent, hard news stories drove 183m News & Politics page views to +12% growth last week. Tragedy in Southport, devastating those directly affected by the attack and millions more around the country shocked by the atrocity, were followed by violent, anti-immigration rioting fueled by misinformation.
- Elsewhere, Careers engagement grew by +61% with page views for the Retirement and Unions topics, up +119% and +66% respectively, as calls to bring back winter fuel payments for retirees and a new pay deal for junior doctors drove interest.
- Finally, the Bank of England cut UK interest rates for the first time since March 2020 to drive Personal Finance page views to +15% growth week on week.
