This Privacy Notice describes how Ozone processes your data within the Ozone Platform, when you visit a Publisher or Advertiser website. For information about how Ozone processes your data when you use the ozoneproject.com website, please view our Website Privacy Policy.
The Ozone Project Limited (Ozone or we) value your privacy and care about the way in which your personal information is treated. We want you to understand:
- What personal information we collect about you;
- How we obtain your personal information;
- How we use your personal information;
- On what basis we use your personal information;
- How long we keep your personal information;
- With whom we share your personal information;
- Managing your cookie preferences on this site;
- The countries to which we transfer your personal information;
- How we protect your personal information; and
- Your rights regarding your personal information.
Ozone works with newspaper and other publishers such as News UK & Ireland Limited, Guardian News & Media Limited, Telegraph Media Group Limited, and Reach Plc (together, the Publishers). Ozone provides a digital marketplace, which enables (a) Advertisers (companies with products to sell and promoting these products via the Publishers) to buy advertising space on websites owned or controlled by the Publishers; and (b) Advertisers to provide more targeted advertising. Ozone complies with industry standards and best practice with regards to how your data is collected and managed for advertising purposes.
Ozone, located at New City Court, 20 St Thomas Street, London, United Kingdom, SE1 9RS, is a data controller of the personal information about you that we process. This means that we decide how and why we use your personal information.

Personal information that we process about you includes:
- Technical information, such as:
- information about the device you use to interact with the Publishers and Advertisers we work with – including
- the unique device identifier;
- hardware model;
- operating system and version;
- mobile network information; and
- the type of browser and operating system you use,
- information from your visits to websites of the Publishers and Advertisers – including
- access times;
- pages viewed;
- URLs clicked on;
- your IP address; and
- the page(s) you visited before navigating to Publisher and Advertisers websites,
- Geo-location information – including from
- your IP address; and
- Internet service providers,
- Information about how you behave on websites, such as
- the way in which you may scroll or navigate through the website;
- how much time you spend on the website; and
- the areas of the website that you focus on.

When you browse websites owned or controlled by the Publishers and Advertisers we work with, we collect your personal information directly from your browser or device.
In addition, we receive information about you from third party data partners, who help us (and Publishers and Advertisers) to match you across sites or learn about your likes and dislikes so that ads you see on Publishers websites are more tailored to you.
We use your personal information for the following purposes:
- Enable advertisers to make online adverts relevant to you, and enable Publishers to sell advertising space on their sites. We do this by:
- Sending data to companies that want to bid on it – When you arrive on a Publisher’s website we send the data we collect about you from their site to companies that may want to show you an ad;
- Matching and combining data, and gaining audience insights – This involves giving you a unique ID on our database, and comparing our database of unique IDs with those of our trusted partners (such as the Publishers, advertisers and third party suppliers that we work with). We use brand study partners such as Brand Metrics to enable us to serve brand awareness studies to you.If your information is matched with to information on the database of any of our trusted partners, we may combine this with the information that we have about you. This helps to create a more rounded view of your lifestyle, demographic, likes and dislikes.
- Associating your unique ID with one or more advertising segments – To do this, we make assumptions about your interests based on the way you interact with Publisher and Advertiser websites and based on the information we obtain about you. We then add to groups, or segments, that have indicated similar interests and preferences. Providers of data management platform services (e.g. Lotame) help us to carry out these activities.
- Enable opt-in market research to be offered to you. A small percentage of our advertising partners ask us to provide opt-in market research to you to measure the effectiveness of a campaign.
- Operate our business. This includes for internal purposes such as auditing, data analysis and research to help us deliver and improve our technologies, processes and services. It also includes processing to detect fraud and illegitimate activity.
- Comply with applicable laws and regulations. For example, to comply with data protection regulation.
We use your personal information under the following legal bases:
- Because you have given your consent. For the advertising purposes described above, we will ask for your consent via the Publisher’s or Advertiser’s website to allow us to use your personal information. See the Your rights section for information about the rights that you have if we process your information on the basis of your consent.
- For legitimate business purposes. In some instances, it’s necessary for us to use your personal information such as to operate our business as described above. See the Your rights section for information about the rights that you have if we process your information on the basis of our Legitimate Business Purposes.
- To comply with legal and regulatory obligations. In some cases, we may have a legal obligation to use or keep your personal information.
We will always keep your personal information:
- for the period required by law;
- where we need to do so in connection with legal action or an investigation involving Ozone; and
- where you have contacted us with a question or request, for as long as necessary to allow us to respond your question or request.
Otherwise, we keep your personal information for no longer than 5 months.
If we no longer need your personal information, we will delete it or make it anonymous by removing all details that identify you.
We share certain elements of your personal information with:
- the following trusted third parties:
- Publishers;
- Advertisers; and
- third party suppliers, such as Brand Metrics.
- our professional advisors and auditors; and
- regulators, governments and law enforcement authorities.

A cookie is a unique numeric code that is transferred to your computer’s browser to track your browsing behaviours and preferences and to recognise you as a return visitor.
Manage your cookie preferences
You can choose to accept or decline cookies using the cookie banners on the Publisher or Advertiser websites. You can also manage how cookies are used, by visiting sites such as www.youronlinechoices.com or clicking on the AdChoices logo that you will see in the corner of advertisements that carry behavioural targeting cookies.
Opt-out of Ozone Platform cookies
You also have the right to withdraw your consent for Ozone Platform cookies and data processing at any time but it’s important to note that this does not affect the lawfulness of the processing before the date that you withdrew your consent.

Your personal information may be processed by Ozone, its affiliated companies and Ozone’s trusted third party suppliers anywhere in the world, including in countries where data privacy laws may not be equivalent to, or as protective as, the laws in your home country.
These countries include: United States, United Kingdom and The Netherlands.
We will implement appropriate measures to ensure that your personal information remains protected and secure when it is transferred outside of your home country, in accordance with applicable data protection and privacy laws. These measures include data transfer agreements implementing standard data protection clauses.
We use a variety of security measures and technologies to help protect your personal information from unauthorised access, use, disclosure, alteration or destruction consistent with applicable data protection and privacy laws.
Although we will do our best to protect your personal information once with us, we cannot guarantee the security of any personal information sent to our site while still in transit and so you provide it at your own risk.
Ozone is registered as a vendor under the IAB Transparency and Compliance Framework (TCF) 2.2 which means that we, and the publishers we work with, abide by the technical standards of TCF 2.2.
Your Rights
You may be entitled to:
- ask about the processing of your personal information, including to be provided with a copy of your personal information;
- request the correction and/or deletion of your personal information;
- request the restriction of the processing of your personal information, or object to that processing;
- withdraw your consent to the processing of your personal information (where your personal information is being processed based on your consent) by emailing [email protected];
- request receipt or transmission to another organisation, in a machine-readable form, of the personal information that you have provided to Ozone; and
- complain to your local supervisory authority if your privacy rights are violated, or if you have suffered as a result of unlawful processing of your personal information.
Where you are given the option to share your personal information with us, you can always choose not to do so. If you object to the processing of your personal information, or if you have provided your consent to processing and you later choose to withdraw it, we will respect that choice in accordance with our legal obligations.
This could mean that we are unable to perform the actions necessary to achieve the purposes of processing described (see How do we use your personal information?). After you have chosen to withdraw your consent Ozone may be able to continue to process your personal information to the extent required or otherwise permitted by law.
